The French do not queue
So today I had my first, real experience of ‘the french do not queue’
We had a bring and share lunch at church so there was a long table assembled at the back of the church for people put their ‘bring’ on it so that we could ‘share’ when the meal began.
The vicar said grace then everyone, like vultures sprang up and just ran at the long table, pushing, grabbing, doing the opposite of queuing.
Me, being very English, didn’t know what to do in this situation, so I started to ‘queue’, behind the mass of people and very quickly realised I would not get any food this way as in the space of a minute about 4 people had pushed in front of me.
I was very unsuccessful in trying to act French and not queue; I was the last person to sit down with my plate of food.
I think queuing is a good invention
